AFP reported that a health worker at Ayder Hospital in Mekelle said the hospital received 44 seriously wounded patients between Saturday and Monday from bombardments in Maichew and Alamata, 33 of them children; that some had been blinded and others had lost arms or legs; and that four people died on the way to the hospital. A Maichew resident who brought an injured sister said the town had been bombarded six times and that two people they knew were killed when a residential area was hit. Residents said a hospital in Maichew was heavily hit. Another person at the hospital with an injured five-year-old sister said several civilians were killed in a strike on Alamata the previous Saturday. Health workers and residents attributed the bombardments to federal government forces. AFP said it had not been able to verify the number of dead independently and that the telecommunications cut was hampering reporting. Text as carried in Amharic-language media citing AFP.
