Meseret Media reported on 29 September 2026 that a building being constructed as accommodation for distinguished guests inside the residential compound of the Afar regional president, Awol Arba, was hit from the air, and that the VIP guest building was struck by a drone in the evening. The report says no information on the damage was available and does not identify who carried out the strike. It notes that with many clashes under way, little timely official information, and both warring sides spreading false information on social media, it is working to establish verified facts.
