Ethiopian drone strikes hit Eritrean troops inside the northern Tigray region this week, the conflict monitor ACLED and witnesses in Adigrat say. According to ACLED, Eritrean troops crossed the border at the town of Zalambessa and headed for the road between Adigrat and Idaga Hamus, where they came under Ethiopian drone fire as they moved south. Ethiopia has demanded their withdrawal; Eritrea did not deny that its troops had crossed the border. Ethiopia's government has not issued its own statement on the strikes. (Reported by Euronews, 8 October 2026, citing ACLED, witnesses in Adigrat and the Amharic weekly Addis Admass.)
